Samantha Denniss – Headteacher and Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead
Jenna Johnson – Deputy Headteacher and Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead
I am the Deputy Headteacher at Options Higford, with responsibility for leading on Quality of Education and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the school. I hold a degree in Sport Management from the University of Central Lancashire and have worked across a range of educational settings throughout my career, supporting pupils with autism, SEMH and additional needs. My previous roles have included Head of PE, Head of Girls’ Games and Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL), which have given me a broad and practical understanding of both education and pastoral support.
I have a particular passion for PE and outdoor learning, and strongly believe in a holistic, adapted curriculum that enables every pupil to thrive. I am currently completing my NPQH and am committed to continuous improvement, both personally and across the wider team. I enjoy working closely with staff and families to create a safe, consistent and engaging environment where pupils can reach their full potential.
Fun fact: I passed my motorbike licence when I was 16 and Toodles is our family dog.

Sam Brookes- Clinical Lead
Over the last 21 years, I have had the opportunity to work with children and young people in their homes, schools and clinic settings, both locally and in New Zealand. I have gained a wealth of experience working alongside young people with a wide range of complex needs, their parents and carers, and the professionals that support them within the wider community. As an OT, I enjoy analysing activities, problem solving and using a holistic approach to ensure that learners are presented with the ‘just right challenge’ while their sensory needs are also being met. I love that Occupational Therapy looks different every day, and embrace the opportunity to join in with activities alongside students and staff whether that be a warm up dance or a scooterboard maze!
I have been part of the Higford Clinical team for 3 years, initially joining as a Specialist OT before moving into the Lead Clinician role in 2024. During this time, it has been amazing to see the Clinical Team grow into our new on-site facilities, increasing the opportunities for young people to access Clinical interventions and implement recommendations.
Fun Fact: I love to have a boogie and am a Macarena expert!

I am passionate about supporting both pupils and their families, building strong and trusting relationships that help children feel secure, valued, and understood. I believe that prioritising pupils wellbeing and creating a safe, nurturing environment enables them to feel confident and engage positively in their learning.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my dog, pottering in the garden, and paddleboarding in the summer.

I’m a SEN Teacher, supporting pupils with a range of additional needs to access learning in ways that work for them, while building their independence and confidence over time. I’ve worked in SEN and SEMH settings for over seven years, which has given me a solid understanding of how varied those needs can be… and how important it is to stay flexible. I tend to stay calm under pressure and enjoy being part of a team, especially when supporting behaviour and helping pupils work through challenges. For me, it always comes back to relationships and helping pupils feel able to succeed.
Outside of work, I enjoy football and support Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Fun fact: I completed the London Marathon with a torn ankle ligament… probably not my best decision, but I got round.

Paige Davis- Unqualified instructor
I’m an unqualified instructor, supporting children with a range of additional needs to access learning in a way that works for them. I’ve developed strong experience in supporting both learning and behaviour, and I really value building positive, trusting relationships so children feel safe, understood, and ready to learn.
I’m especially passionate about hands-on, practical learning… the kind that involves movement, creativity, and a bit of mess along the way. I enjoy creating engaging opportunities that help build confidence, independence, and meaningful learning for every child.
Fun fact: I coach a grassroots football team and I’m also a qualified horse riding coach.

I am passionate about ensuring every child has the opportunity to succeed, and I aim to make learning accessible, engaging and meaningful. Building positive relationships is really important to me, and I enjoy supporting pupils to develop their confidence over time.

Caitlyn Bagley- PE Tutor
Hi, I’m Caitlyn Bagley, a PE Tutor with a real passion for helping young people thrive through sport and physical activity. I’ve always loved being outdoors and staying active, and that passion has shaped both my personal and professional journey.
I’ve had the opportunity to play football at a national level and represent my county, which has given me a strong understanding of teamwork, dedication, and resilience. Alongside playing, I’ve also coached football, and I really enjoy supporting others to build their skills, confidence, and enjoyment of the game.
I consider myself patient, calm, and understanding. I love working with children and young people, especially in a SEN environment, where building trust, encouraging participation, and celebrating every achievement—big or small—really matters.
My goal is to create a positive, supportive space where every student feels included, valued, and able to succeed in their own way.
Fun fact: I absolutely love to cook and try new foods.
Shelbie Elson- Enrichment Tutor
I am the Enrichment Tutor at Options Higford, where I design and organise a diverse range of offsite visits, in-school experiences, and seasonal events. Jamie Perry – Independence and preparation for adulthood tutor
Joshua Foster- PSHE/RSE Tutor
I am the PSHE Tutor here, and I genuinely love working with students who keep me on my toes in the best way. My background is in Sociology and International Relations, and I’ve spent time working in community mental health and SEN education, which really shaped how I approach this role. I’m passionate about helping students build confidence, understand themselves, and develop the life skills they need beyond school. The best part, honestly, is seeing those small moments where things just click.
When I’m not at work, I’m usually outside somewhere, making a cup of tea, or… probably eating far too much cheese.
Fun fact: I could happily build a whole meal around cheese and call it balanced.
